I'm Emily, and I'm passionate about sleep! I firmly believe in a holistic, family-centred approach to sleep coaching, empowering parents to unpick and solve their child's sleep problems in a gentle, loving way with continued professional support and encouragement. (I don’t like to hear your baby cry any more than you do.)
You know your baby best, so I'll work closely with you to work on strategies using my own training, evidence-based scientific research plus hours of my own experience to help figure out and solve your child's sleep needs in a caring and gentle way. I am always respectful of individual family values and parental concerns. We all parent differently based on our own values, experiences and life style. so I work alongside parents as a team with the child's best interests at heart. As part of your coaching package I will be guiding and supporting you through the process, routine changes and gentle transitions with calm authority and reassurance. Soon your baby, and the whole family will all be enjoying Sweet Dreams!
Why work with me?
I have over 20 years' experience working with children and babies all the way from newborn twins to teenagers in various capacities including as a Nanny, Night Nanny, Newborn Care Specialist/Maternity Practitioner, Respite Carer and in a Primary school setting. I have cared for multiple children with complex medical needs, often overnight, and have extensive training in all aspects of child care and development.
I have two children of my own, a ten-year-old son and a daughter, 14, Both have diagnosed sleep conditions. My son suffered with severe Gastroeosophageal Reflux as a baby and young child, so I have personal experience of this very difficult condition. I know only too well what it is like to manage on minimal sleep and wonder how you will get through the day!
I love helping other parents get a good night's sleep – as nothing is worse than feeling constantly exhausted and not being able to enjoy your time with your baby or child. It is well known that sleep deprivation can lead to low mood and anxiety, amongst other things. At such a special time in life, welcoming a new addition to your family, I want all parents to feel well-rested, refreshed, and able to enjoy time with their children. Most importantly, good sleep is essential for your child to grow and develop!
I am a fully qualified Childcare Practitioner, and since gaining a BND in Childhood Studies in 1997, have completed many further relevant training courses over the years following.
I have a Level 3 Accreditation in Sleep Training, and have completed courses in Transition to Motherhood, Compassionate Maternity Care, Nutrition and Nurture of the Newborn and beyond, Newborn Sepsis, and Level 3 training in Postnatal and Infant Care to work as a Maternity Practitioner.
I have previously trained in Child Protection and Safeguarding, as well as many other subjects including Autism and Anxiety, Promoting Positive Behaviour, and Social and Emotional Development in the Early Years.
I have most recently attended Millpond Sleep Clinic CPD training for Professionals, and am currently completing further certification in Level 5 Holistic Sleep Coaching.
I hold an enhanced DBS as well as full Paediatric First Aid, and insurance.
I am continually looking to further my professional development and complete regular additional training particularly in the field of Sleep and Newborn Care.
